xFORGOTTEN FREQUENCYx
_This
is for anybody who appreciates hip hop music.
I started this to give the vegan straight edge a voice in hip hop culture.Hip hop/rap music has always been fundamental as a voice for the voiceless and making notice of society's injustices .We are bringing the Edge back to Straight Edge. People so easily write us off , but thats not the case anymore. In hip hop culture drugs and alchohol draw a source of masculinity and power. We are here to say that true power and strength starts with purity, and cleansing our bodies and minds of such poisons . I also reject the aspects of homophobia and sexism that have become prominent in this scene.
I make music for every individual, and believe in marriage equality and female empowerment.
We're waging war. We're going to tear down the industry and rebuild from the ground up.
Our goal is to bring back Integrity in hip hop and Hardcore music.
Live free or die
Thank you for taking the time to listen to what I have to say.

...AND SO WE ESCAPED
...And So We Escaped is an instrumental rock band that hails from
Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Formed in the fall of 2007, we got together
with the idea of starting a hard core band, but through a mutual interest
of other genres we ended up writing long instrumental tracks.
Still believing in the ideas and ideals of the DIY hardcore/punk scene that brought us together, we all live and promote a vegan drug free lifestyle, and strongly support the struggle for animal, earth, and human liberation. As a band and as individuals we renounce without compromise racism, sexism, homophobia, speciecism, and every other form of discrimination, exploitation, and oppression. The world is yours to change. FROM THE DEPTHS
Anarchist punk band From the Depths was formed at the beginning of 2008 by members of Catharsis, Requiem, Network of Terror, Auryn, and Balaclava. Traveling in a van donated by Winona’s Really Really Free Market after their vegetable-oil-powered truck died mid-tour, they performed for fellow demonstrators outside the 2008 Democratic and Republican National Conventions; they’ve also played benefit shows for RNC arrestees, Green Scare defendants, and other prisoners in the anticapitalist struggle.

VHHM - Vegan Hip Hop Movement
|
What has been achieved through the project?
The vhhm promotes holistic activism, which means that those within the hip hop community, who aren't aware of the interconnectedness of animal oppression within our food system but are politically active for farm workers rights, are informed through the VHHM about the plight of other animals. similarly, the vegan community, understands speciesism but doesn't realize that their consumer products are made available through human suffering and the degradation of our planet. sweatshop-made or non-fair trade vegan products perpetuate a racist and imperialist system of oppression. As the founder of the VHHM, I interviewed with Animal Voices radio, a toronto-based animal liberation program, in 2007. Late last year, the vhhm became a part of the animal voices radio program. I provide vegan hip hop songs each week as the musical feature, rounding out a show that seeks to unify all struggles for justice and liberation for all beings and the planet. How has this affected yourself/ people involved? I have received only positive feedback about the vegan hip hop movement. Through the VHHM, Hip hop heads have been encouraged to adopt a plant based diet, and vegans have been exposed to other social justice issues. i personally find my work with the vhhm to be very fulfilling, as hip hop has been a part of my life since i was seven and i have benefitted greatly from adopting a plant-based diet (despite my difficulties with navigating the vegan community). The VHHM is an expression of two significant parts of my identity: my veganism and my love of hip hop. please connect with the Movement at our blog (veganhiphopmovement.blogspot.com), facebook, and animal voices radio. If you're interested in digging deeper into the issues I've brought up, I'd encourage you to read the article, “Explaining Racism to White Vegans and Speciesism to non-vegan POCs” on the Vegans of Color blog (http://vegansofcolor.wordpress.com/2008/07/05/explaining-racism-to-white-vegns-speciesism-to-non-vegn-pocs/) http://veganhiphopmovement.blogspot.com/ http://www.facebook.com/pages/vegan-hip-hop-movement/ http://lacapturadelsonido.tumblr.com/ ___ TAQWA 4 Junho 2011 |
Immortal Technique - The "Third World Ambassator""Felipe Andres Coronel (born February 19, 1978), better known by the stage name Immortal Technique, is an American rapper of Afro-Peruvian descent as well as an urban activist. He was born in Lima, Peru and raised in Harlem, New York. Most of his lyrics focus on controversial issues in global politics. The views expressed in his lyrics are largely a mixture of socialist commentary on issues such as class struggle, poverty, religion, government and institutional racism.
Immortal Technique has voiced a desire to retain control over his production, and has stated in his music that record companies, not artists themselves, profit the most from mass production and marketing of music. He claimed in an interview to have sold close to 200,000 copies of his three official releases."
E nós somos a geração à rasca... À rasca de valores, de coragem, determinação. Vontade de mudar, de criticar o sistema de nos deturpa. Vontade de viver.

Prayers for Atheists - Psalm for St. Paul
"Prayers
For Atheists (PFA) is the first punk band signed to Strange Famous
Re-
cords (SFR), the independent Rhode Island music label owned by renowned
hip hop artist, Sage Francis. Fronted by longtime SFR affiliate, Jared Paul and
Providence song writer, Alan Hague, PFA delivers the well-crafted and thought
provoking lyrics that listeners have come to expect from Strange Famous.
Thrashing rapidly between mid-80’s hardcore punk, counter-culture victory
anthems, and politically-slanted hip hop, Prayers For Atheists gracefully snake
in and out of genres while escaping lazy categorization. Using creative concepts
to address pressing topical issues, the music remains fueled by the message,
while the band demonstrates a sense of victory and hope. These songs are labor
testimonials, dance jams, and anti-war hymns executed with heart, craft and in-
tegrity. PFA's 2009 self-titled 8 song EP was a forceful opening statement for a
group who intends on shaking things up while having fun doing it. It’s not maca-
bre music. And it’s not cynical. That would be too easy."

Lowkey
"Lowkey (born Kareem Dennis 23 May 1986) is a Poet, Playwright, Political Activist and award winning Hip Hop Artist of mixed British and Arab descent who has received airplay on numerous major radio stations including BBC Radio 1, 95.8 Capital FM, Kiss 100, Choice FM, BBC 1Xtra and BBC Asian Network and toured internationally, performing to crowds everywhere from Glastonbury and Trafalgar Square to Germany and Amsterdam.Lowkey was born to mixed heritage, his father being British from Dover, while his mother is an Iraqi born in Baghdad. He began attending the open mic sessions which took place at the Deal Real record shop on Carnaby Street, Central London. The first time he went he introduced himself as Lowkey and was told there was already a regular there by that name; the two had a battle rap over the use of the name which Lowkey won. It was at Deal Real that he met Doc Brown, who invited him to feature on his first notable single ‘Donnie’s Lament’, a song which was based on the film Donnie Darko. The success of ‘Donnie’s Lament (Mad World Remix)’, which was played on Capital FM and Radio One led to a mixtape entitled Key To The Game Vol 1, released independently in 2003. Within a year and a half he had released a second and third volume, all of which gained critical acclaim from UK hip hop circles. Despite releasing the third mixtape in 2005, it would be another three years until he released his album proper preferring instead to explore other aspects of his career until then.

Sage Francis
"Darkness and light, anger and serenity, tragedy and comedy - these extremes are contained in Sage Francis, and they provide the foundation for Human the Death Dance, his best album to date. From the moment its curtains open to their drawing closed, Sage's fourth solo album (and his second for Epitaph) evokes the arc of its maker's lifespan - literally spanning the decades from his first recordings as an eight year-old rapper (captured on opener "Growing Pains") to the stark contemplation of his darkest days (on the subtly affecting closer, "Going Back to Rehab"). Between those two poles, Sage proves he's not just a rapper, nor just a spoken-word artist - he's the best lyricist of his generation."

Apollo Poetry
Apollo Poetry was born in Jerusalem, Israel on November 14th, 1983. He is a spoken word poet, hiphop artist, filmmaker, and author who has chosen words as tools of inspiration to bridge the gap between our cultural divisions and unite us back into the realization that we are souls having a human experience.
In 2007, he became the first spoken word artist to perform at the Billboard Awards. Apollo's major appearances include MTV'S True Life, VIBE Magazine, The WakeUp Show, Source's Unsigned Hype, Showtime at Apollo, along with performances at Madison Square Garden & America West Arena.
Born in Jerusalem and raised in New Jersey, he has spend the last few years of his life in Arizona on a spiritual quest. He now calls the road his home. The microphone his vehicle.
Apollo has won the NJ Poetry Slam, NY Poetry Slam, Arizona Poetry Slam, and represented Arizona in the National Poetry Slam competition. Although Apollo had success with slams, he put the competitive mic down to get more involved in the community, by performing at retirement homes, homeless shelters, and other community based projects.
Apollo has worked with Invisible Children, Youth for Human Rights, the Department of Peace, the Alzheimers Poetry Project, and many more non-profits and education-based organizations.
Apollo gained popularity in the poetry community as he dug deeper into the intensity of his performances. The same emotions that scared him when he first opened up to them are now the foundation to what he does when he performs. He is often channeling his words from a higher source and has had numerous experiences where he has no human memory of what he just did at the end of his performance. He allows the spirit to channel through his body and brings forth a message that takes the crowd on a deeper spiritual journey.
The ink has become his blood. The paper has become his skin. He now tattoos his soul from the inside out with the goal to uplift humanity through words.

Panopticon
"Panopticon is intensely emotional and atmospheric Black Metal that transcends the genre
with both boots deeply submerged in the grim aggression that keeps the underground flame burning.
Blazing modern raw black metal seemlessly merges with American bluegrass and folk using a myriad of wind, stringed, and keyed instruments. Where other bands seem to force the blend of styles, Panopticon never falters.
This is black metal unafraid to experiment with other musical genres and styles. It is steeped in history, Pagan Norse mythology, and a well-educated philosophy of anarchism in support of a strong, small community versus a nation of complacency and spinelessness."
-Pagan Flames
Panopticon deals with issues such as: Anarchist history, the radical workers movement past and present, the continuing effects of industrial life, subjectivity vs. objectivity, re wilding, heathen spirituality, Nordic lore and History, an undying love for the wild and the fury of our earth.

Song for the Revolution
Inspired by the resilience of Egyptian people during their recent uprising, several notable musicians from North America have teamed up to release a song of solidarity and empowerment. The track is fittingly titled "#Jan25" as a reference to both the date the protests officially began in Egypt, and its prominence as a trending topic on Twitter. Produced by Sami Matar, a Palestinian-American composer from Southern California, and featuring the likes of Freeway, The Narcicyst, Omar Offendum, HBO Def Poet Amir Sulaiman, and Canadian R&B vocalist Ayah - this track serves as a testament to the revolution's effect on the hearts and minds of today's youth, and the spirit of resistance it has come to symbolize for oppressed people worldwide.
