1984 - George Orwell
_George Orwell's novel decries a totalitarian government bent on total manipulation.
Life in the Oceanian province of Airstrip One is a world of perpetual war, pervasive government surveillance, and incessant public mind control, accomplished with a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (Ingsoc), which is administrated by a privileged Inner Party elite. Yet they too are subordinated to the totalitarian cult of personality of Big Brother, the deified Party leader who rules with a philosophy that decries individuality and reason as thoughtcrimes; thus the people of Oceania are subordinated to a supposed collective greater good.
Winston Smith, is a member of the Outer Party who works for the Ministry of Truth (Minitrue), which is responsible for propaganda and historical revisionism. His job is to re-write past newspaper articles so that the historical record is congruent with the current party ideology. Because of the childhood trauma of the destruction of his family — the disappearances of his parents and sister — Winston Smith secretly hates the Party, and dreams of rebellion against Big Brother.

I Speak For Myself
I Speak for Myself is a collection of 40 personal essays written by American Muslim women under the age of 40, all of whom were born and raised in the US. It is a showcase of the true diversity found in American Islam.
The book has already caught the attention of prominent thought leaders including Deepak Chopra, Muhammad Yunus, Her Majesty Queen Noor, Jim Wallis, Eboo Patel, Soledad O’Brien and many more.
This book serves as a source of inspiration and education for people of other faiths who are interested in learning more about what it is like to be Muslim in America, as well as Muslim women themselves. Some of the issues explored include the balance of Western values with Islamic ones; whether adopting the veil can be an obstacle in the professional arena; expressing oneself as a Muslim within society; and political engagement.
The essays featured in I Speak for Myself are not intended to be reactionary to the current climate of suspicion towards Islam in America, but they certainly address such suspicion in a very personal way. The contributors embody real everyday American women who struggle with their faith while balancing their careers and private life. Some are public about their faith and include their knowledge of it in their professional endeavors. Others keep faith and profession separate. Some are working to change their fellow Americans’ views of Islam, while others are still trying to find their own religious identities. Some stories are so deeply personal you feel you’re reading a private journal entry rather than an essay.

Veganomicon: The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook
Over 250 of our favoritest vegan recipes with absolutely no “soy cheese” this or “store bought veggie burgers” that. Many of the recipes were written for every day meals, in hopes that you won’t even need to look at the recipe after making it a few times. The kind of chow you can whip up any night of the week with your pantry staples and some seasonal produce. But you can also trust it when you’re looking for an extravagant spread to impress, say, your inlaws, or the mayor of your town when she stops by. During the course of developing recipes we kept coming back to this phrase: Recipes you wish you’d grown up with(...) It’s real and honest home cooking, with a splash of panache that only two food obsessed chicks could arrive at. These recipes were not born from airy-fairy, spotless brushed stainless steel made for TV kitchens.
The recipes that await you in the deepest, darkest inner sanctum of this book were created by two women who cook, live and eat in real, urban kitchens.
This is food made while chatting with significant-others, gossiping with friends and shooing nosy pets off the counter-tops. In other words, this is kind of food you make and eat while life happens.

The Diatribes of a Dying Tribe
The Diatribes of a Dying Tribe | Yassin ‘The Narcicyst’ Alsalman
Diatribe of a Dying Tribe is about the jumbled reality of North American life. The destructive components of juxtaposing cultures, the birth of immigrant internationality and the resilient art that comes out of struggle and oppression.
It is the story of four young Arab men who joined forces to create their own representative governing meeting. Excentrik, Ragtop, Omar Offendum & the Narcicyst spent two weeks in California and endless hours on a computer crafting the Fear of an Arab Planet; an examination of the heightened anxiety towards Islam, the Oriental gaze towards the Arab face and the ever-growing paranoia of the ‘other’, all over some bangin’ beats to rock to. As a post-analytical view of the making of an album, this book serves as a document on the burgeoning Arab poetry scene, and how the two mother cultures of a migrant society coalesced through a modern hyper-culture called Hip-Hop. From TSA agents to ABC rappers, The Arab Summit were on a mission to be heard… and that is exactly what happened.
With writing by Suheir Hammad, Omar Offendum, Ragtop & Excentrik
Exclusive Interviews with Cilvaringz, Malikah, Eslaam Jawaad, Members of AK, DAM and Soul Purpose.

Eating Animals - (Audiobook)
Eating Animals (Audiobook) By Jonathan Safran Foer
Publisher: Recor ded Books 2009 | 10 hours and 13 mins | ISBN: 1440762864 | MP3 | 553 MB
Like many others, Jonathan Safran Foer spent his teenage and college years oscillating between omnivore and vegetarian. But on the brink of fatherhood facing the prospect of having to make dietary choices on a child's behalf his casual questioning took on an urgency. This quest ultimately required him to visit factory farms in the middle of the night, dissect the emotional ingredients of meals from his childhood, and probe some of his most primal instincts about right and wrong.
This book is what he found. Brilliantly synthesizing philosophy, literature, science, memoir, and his own detective work, Eating Animals explores the many stories we use to justify our eating habits folklore and pop culture, family traditions and national myth, apparent facts and inherent fictions and how such tales can lull us into a brutal forgetting.
Marked by Foer's moral ferocity and unvarying generosity, as well as the humor and style that made his previous books, Everything Is Illuminated and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, widely loved, Foer's latest tour de force informs and delights, challenging us to explore what is too often conveniently brushed aside. A celebration and a reckoning, Eating Animals is a story about the stories we've told and the stories we now need to tell.

El islam como anarquismo místico
El islam como anarquismo místico | Abdenur Prado
Virus Editorial
